Prep + Care For Your Glo
Crucial Steps For a Perfect Glo.
Getting flawless spray tan results isn’t just about choosing the right spray tan solution or using the proper technique during the service; it’s also about being prepared for your spray tan service, and knowing what to do afterwards so you don’t sabotage your tan. Getting a spray tan without knowing what to do before and after the service is like trying to prepare a meal without knowing what ingredients you need or who is coming: it’s not guaranteed to ruin the experience, but chances are high that something will go wrong. In order to avoid disaster, you’ll want to come to your service as prepared as possible, and leave the service knowing exactly what to do. Follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way to experiencing the best spray tan of your life!
Prep
Shave/wax and exfoliate 8-24 hours before your appointment to ensure an even spray tan application.
Exfoliation sloughs away dead skin cells which will help achieve a long-lasting spray tan.
Receive facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing 24 hours before your appointment.
Use a water based exfoliating scrub rather than an oil-based scrub because the oil will interfere with the spray tan from developing
Do not use any Dove products doing so will create a filmy barrier on your skin
If you must shower before your appointment take a quick cold shower to prevent a “pitted tan”
Do not wear jewelry, apply any moisturizer, makeup, deodorant, perfume or other beauty products before your appointment. They will interfere with the quality of your spray tan.
Wear loose, dark clothing. The cosmetic bronzer will slightly rub off but will easily wash out of most fabrics. Do not wear jeans or tight clothing this will prevent any streaking.
Wear sandals to your appointment to prevent rub off on your feet.
IMPORTANT:
Do not exercise the day of your tanning appointment. Excessive perspiration will adversely affect the development of your tan.
Post Care
Avoid water and moisture until your initial rinse. This means no showers, sweating, swimming and lotions. If you have pets don’t let them lick you.
Avoid skin to skin contact while your tan is developing, especially if you received an 8-hour regular tan. It is best to wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pajama pants to bed.
If you received an 8-hour regular tan, shower in 8-10 hours. Do not shower earlier than 8 hours. Your tan will not be fully developed. If you received a rapid rinse tan, you can rinse as early as 1-4 hours depending on your skin type and desired darkness. Your technician will specify a rinse off time.
Rinse off all the bronzer until the water runs clear. You will see color washing off the first time you shower. This is just the cosmetic bronzer and not your spray tan. Do not use a loofah, scrub or washcloth. This will remove your spray tan.
Pat skin dry. Do not rub.
Use a spray tan friendly body wash or soap.
Moisturize, moisturize! Hydrated skin will prolong the life of your spray tan along with the use of proper products.
Apply a moisturizer morning and night after full development. Avoid products with mineral oils, and alcohol.
Professional aftercare products are available for purchase at the studio.
